The Calico Boutique is the living testimony of founder Kia Palmer—a journey defined by faith, resilience, and the unwavering belief that God can transform every circumstance into purpose.
Kia’s love for fashion began at age 10, stringing beaded jewelry and dreaming of a future where creativity and meaning could unite. In 2009, she opened her first shop at the US Flea Market Mall in Fayetteville, NC. The path forward was not always straight: from modeling at Darlington Raceway to launching Calico Promotions in the entertainment industry, Kia’s story has been one of perseverance, setbacks, and divine redirection.
A victim of sexual assault, Kia faced unimaginable pain and adversity. In 2021, a life-changing hysterectomy became the turning point that drew her closer to God, sparking a journey of deep healing and spiritual renewal. Her baptism in December 2023 marked a powerful recommitment to Christ and her true calling. Through every trial, Kia has emerged stronger, determined to help others—both women and men—find hope, strength, and purpose beyond their own pain.
Today, The Calico Boutique is more than a boutique—it’s a ministry and safe haven for anyone seeking faith, beauty, and encouragement. Each product, from hypoallergenic, nickel-free custom jewelry to curated clothing and Calico Naturals, is created or chosen with prayer and intention. Kia’s mission is to help every person embrace the masterpiece God created them to be, no matter their past.
